COVID-19 Variants, Vaccines, and the Value of Rapid Testing

A COMPLIMENTARY EDUCATIONAL WEBINAR

Date: Wednesday, December 8, 2021
Time: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. CT

From acute infection to disease surveillance, rapid diagnostic COVID-19 tests remain a key strategy in mitigating disease transmission. Healthcare systems are being tasked with preparing for an uncertain respiratory season; influenza remains at large, RSV is sporadically appearing and the impact of variants on tests and vaccines remain an ever present concern.

The ICAHN (Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network) and its clinical and laboratory team members are invited to participate in this tailored educational program focused on respiratory season readiness. Dr. Moore, an expert in microbiology and infectious diseases, will discuss the latest guidance on rapid respiratory testing and co-infections during respiratory season and provide an update on variant surveillance and diagnostic tests to include molecular to antigen testing. This session will focus on solutions that can be optimized in critical access settings.

This complimentary educational program is made possible through the generous support of Abbott.

Program Objectives

  • Discuss the upcoming respiratory season and the potential impact of COVID-19
  • Evaluate use cases for different rapid respiratory testing methods, including molecular and antigen assays
  • Review current COVID-19 testing recommendations for symptomatic and asymptomatic use cases
  • Describe COVID-19 variants and the impact of variants on diagnostic tests
